This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.
The short version: the game has no server run by the developer and creates no account with the developer. Everything personal that leaves Your Device goes to Google — either to Google Play Games Services, because You chose to sign in and appear on a leaderboard, or to Google AdMob, because the game shows rewarded ads.
The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.
For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:
Account means the Google account You optionally use to sign in to Google Play Games Services. No account is created with the Company.
Advertising ID means the resettable identifier that Android provides to apps for advertising purposes (also referred to as the Google Advertising ID or AAID).
AdMob means Google AdMob, the advertising service operated by Google LLC that serves the ads shown in the Application.
Affiliate means an entity that controls, is controlled by or is under common control with a party, where "control" means ownership of 50% or more of the shares, equity interest or other securities entitled to vote for election of directors or other managing authority.
Application refers to What Are The Odds, the software program provided by the Company.
Company (referred to as either "the Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to Alec Chamberland, the independent developer and publisher of What Are The Odds.
Country refers to: Quebec, Canada
Device means any device that can access the Service such as a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet.
Leaderboard means a ranking of players' scores hosted by Google Play Games Services and visible to other players of the Application.
Personal Data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
Play Games Services means Google Play Games Services, the Google service that provides sign-in, Leaderboards, achievements and friends features to Android games.
Rewarded Ad means a video advertisement that You choose to watch in exchange for an in-game reward. Watching one is always optional.
Service refers to the Application.
Service Provider means any natural or legal person who processes the data on behalf of the Company. It refers to third-party companies or individuals employed by the Company to facilitate the Service, to provide the Service on behalf of the Company, to perform services related to the Service or to assist the Company in analyzing how the Service is used.
Usage Data refers to data collected automatically, either generated by the use of the Service or from the Service infrastructure itself.
You means the individual accessing or using the Service, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Service, as applicable.
The following information is created by playing the game and is written to the Application's local storage on Your Device. The Company does not receive it, and it is not transmitted to any server operated by the Company:
This information is deleted when You uninstall the Application, and can be cleared at any time from the in-game Settings → Reset progress. If You have Android's Auto Backup enabled on Your Device, Android may copy the Application's local storage to Your own Google Drive backup. That backup is a Google service governed by Google's terms and is not accessible to the Company.
The Application does not ask You to provide Your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, precise location, microphone or camera. The Personal Data associated with the Service is limited to:
Usage Data is collected automatically by the advertising and Play Games components of the Service.
Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), Your Advertising ID and other device identifiers, the type of mobile device You use, Your mobile operating system and its version, coarse or approximate location derived from Your IP address, and information about Your interaction with an advertisement (for example that an ad was requested, shown, closed, or clicked).
Google Play may also collect information about the Application independently of this Privacy Policy — for example crash and performance information that Google Play provides to all developers in aggregated form. That collection is governed by Google's own terms.
Signing in to Play Games Services is optional. The Application is fully playable without signing in, and if You never sign in, no score or profile information is sent to a Leaderboard.
If You do sign in, the following information is processed through Google:
A Leaderboard is public to other players by design. Do not sign in with a Play Games display name that You do not want other players to see. You can change Your display name or avatar, or hide Your profile, in the Google Play Games app.
This data is hosted and controlled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. The Application receives it from Google's SDK in order to draw the Leaderboard screen, caches the most recently loaded Leaderboard on Your Device so it can be shown offline, and does not copy it to any other server. The Company has no ability to read Your Google account beyond what the Play Games SDK returns.
The Application also offers a share button that hands Your result to Android's standard share sheet. Nothing is shared unless You tap it and choose a destination app, and the content shared is the text You see in the share sheet. What happens to it afterwards is governed by the privacy policy of the app You chose.
The Application shows Rewarded Ads served by Google AdMob. There are no banner ads and no ads that interrupt You without Your action: an ad is shown only after You choose to watch one in exchange for an in-game reward.
To serve those ads, Google acts as an independent controller of the data it collects and may use the Advertising ID, device identifiers, IP-derived approximate location and ad interaction data to select ads, measure their performance, limit how often the same ad is shown, and detect invalid traffic and fraud. Where You have consented to it, that data may also be used for personalized advertising.
The Application requests ads with a maximum ad content rating of "G". The Android permission com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID is declared because the advertising SDK reads the Advertising ID.
Google's handling of that data is described in Google's Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
The Company does not receive Your Personal Data from Google. The Company receives only aggregated reporting, such as the number of ads shown and the revenue earned.
The Application uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain the consent required by law in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Where consent is required, a Google-provided consent form is presented before any ad is requested, no ad request is made until You have answered it, and Your choice is stored and applied to subsequent ad requests. In regions where consent is not legally required, ads are requested without a consent form.
You can limit or reset advertising identifiers at any time from Your Device: Settings → Google → Ads, where Android lets You reset Your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization. Where Google requires a persistent privacy options entry point for Your region, the consent form can be presented again through the Application.
The Application contains no in-app purchases. No payment information is ever requested or processed by the Application.
The Company may use the limited information described above for the following purposes:
To provide and maintain our Service, including saving and restoring Your progress on Your Device.
To operate the Leaderboard and achievements: to submit Your score, to display the global and friends Leaderboards, and to record achievement unlocks — in each case through Google Play Games Services and only if You have signed in.
To fund the Service: to request, show and measure Rewarded Ads and to grant the corresponding in-game reward.
To protect the Service: to prevent, detect and investigate ad fraud, invalid traffic, cheating and abuse of the Leaderboard.
To comply with legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
For business transfers: We may use Your information to evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Our assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding.
We may share information in the following situations:
We do not sell or share Your Personal Data for cross-context behavioural advertising in the sense of the California Consumer Privacy Act, and We do not receive money in exchange for Your Personal Data.
Data held on Your Device is retained until You reset Your progress from the in-game settings, clear the Application's data, or uninstall the Application.
Leaderboard entries, achievements and advertising data are retained by Google according to Google's own retention policies, which are described in Google's Privacy Policy. The Company holds no copy of them.
Google processes Play Games Services and advertising data on servers located in the United States and in other countries. This means that information may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of Your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of Your jurisdiction. Google implements its own safeguards for such transfers, including the standard contractual clauses where applicable.
Your use of the Service, and where applicable Your consent given through the consent form or through Play Games sign-in, represents Your agreement to that transfer.
You have the right to delete or request that We assist in deleting Personal Data collected about You.
Please note that We may need to retain certain information where We have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.
If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, Your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
Under certain circumstances, the Company may be required to disclose Your Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency).
The Company may disclose Your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Data saved by the Application is stored in the Application's private storage area on Your Device and is protected by the operating system's app sandbox; Leaderboard and sign-in traffic is handled by Google's SDKs over encrypted connections. While We strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.
The Application is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in Your jurisdiction), and We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from them. The Application is not enrolled in Google Play's Designed for Families program. Ads are requested with a maximum content rating of "G".
If You are a parent or guardian and You believe Your child has provided Personal Data through Play Games sign-in or otherwise, please contact Us and We will take steps to remove what We can, and contact Google to remove data held in the child's Play Games profile. Where Your country requires the consent of a parent for the processing of a child's information, We may require that consent before We collect and use that information.
Depending on where You live, You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of Your Personal Data, to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal, and to data portability.

Because the Company holds no server-side copy of Your data, most of these rights are exercised directly on Your Device or, for Leaderboard and advertising data, through Google. If You are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, You also have the right to lodge a complaint with Your local supervisory authority. If You are in Quebec, You have the rights granted by the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, as amended by Law 25, and You may contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec. Residents of California and of other jurisdictions with comparable laws may exercise their equivalent rights by contacting Us.
We will not discriminate against You for exercising any of these rights.
The Application, and advertisements shown within it, may lead to websites or applications that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link or on an advertisement, You will be directed to that third party's site or store listing. We strongly advise You to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit.
We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services, including the content of the advertisements themselves, which are selected and served by Google.
We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. Where a change materially affects what is collected, it will also be reflected in the Application's release notes.
You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
